| no partners | | AZT 12 N2S. I started this butt kicker at 11:15am which was way too late to pull off this task in the daylight. Either way I was there and committed. I did an out and back from American Flag to the Cookie Cabin in Summerhaven. I didn't have time to stop and get a cookie or pizza but it made for a good turnaround point.
On my way down the ridge the sun started to set in the west while at the same time the full moon was rising in the east. It was a Harvest Moon and I was in the perfect place to see both the sun fall and the moon rise at the same time. I was doing my best to hurry as I still had 6 miles to go and nightfall was about to set in. The only problem was that I kept stopping to enjoy the moment and take pictures. I finally got to the car at 8:22. Whew was I glad to be done with this one. 
The plan was to continue my hike from Marshall Gultch (Summerhaven) with Nick on Sunday. I would continue north to south while he hiked from Gordon Hirbayshi trailhead up to Marshall. |
