This hike had a multi-purpose. Frick the Nick needed it for his overall AZT completion, I needed it for my journey on the AZT going north to south, and then there was the real purpose. We were working up our appetites for the 2012 Pizza eating show down! That's right, the Frickster has been talking smack about how he can out eat me when it comes to pizza. Of course whatever he was dishing out I was serving right back. I mean it's one of my top two favorite things to eat. Pizza and Mexican food is all I need!
The hike was fantastic, we dropped Nicks car and myself at the Grand Canyon South Kaibab TH. From there he took my car to the Grandview Tower. It was a bit chilly at first but quickly warmed to a perfect hiking temperature. We went our own ways and found our vehicles waiting for us as planned.
I wanted an extra edge so after the hike I went and did Bill Williams trail. It was on the way back to Flag and I wanted to make sure my appetite was good and ready.
Later that evening it would be the pizza eating show down at Oreganos. We ordered a couple waters to whet the whistle. Then a couple dinner salads and an 18" pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom pizza. It was on! Down went the salads, then the pizza started to get devoured. About the time we were 3/4 thru with it the server came by and asked if we wanted a box. I said no but that we would take another 12" pizza. We finished the 18er and started into the 12. It wasn't long and both pizzas were gone. Every last piece!
The pizza eating contest was over. It was a dead heat! That man can eat!
