Three hikers started from Hackmore TH and walked north on FS 1512 until we passed FS 1356. A quarter mile north of the junction we walked up the wash and crossed to the wash beyond the near peak and walked up to the Hat Top Hill ridgeline from the east looking for Palo Verde Arch. We peeked over the ridge and spotted two mature Sheep (rams) with huge racks. I was too slow to get to my camera, so missed getting the pictures. We scanned the area looking for the arch and decided to move down to the west. Looking back, we finally spotted Palo Verde Arch. We headed north to FS 1356 and walked east a quarter mile to get a picture of 'no name' arch that we had seem from Hat Top Hill ridgeline. Then, we walked west on the road until we found a turn off that meandered to the south until we saw 'Green Thumb' and back to the TH.

The information came from Ted Tenny's book "Goldfield Mountain Hikes". Ted lists a number of arches at least one has been destroyed by vandalism. My friends and I have been trying to locate all listed in the book.

-------------Willow Springs TH or Milemarker 204------------------------2nd photoset trip log--

Willow Springs Loop started from Willow Springs TH or Milemarker 204. From the TH, went north on road to a 'Tee' where we went left, then immediate right up the road. The road goes up the mountain and ends. Near the end is a slight trail leading to the top with some 'scrambling'. On the top, you have great views of Weavers Needle and the Superstitions as well as the Goldfield area. Going back down at the roads turn to the mountain is a trail leading along the canyon. At a cairn go left and cross the saddle to the west and enter Prevention Gap. Hike past the arches in the photos before arriving at a side trail to the right which takes you to the Willow Springs Basin. Follow the road until it comes back into the wash which you follow using Gonzales Needle at a focus point to find the grind holes and caves which are a short walk from the trailhead.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Found IQ arch from Willow Springs TH/milemarker 204 on 12-29-12. Walked north to wash, then went south of Gold colored mountain to the west. When crossing the saddle south of the Gold colored mountain, I could see the IQ arch on the ridge ahead and to the right. Hiked to that ridge and walked to the arch.
