| partners | | Wally had a plan to hit up Picacho, over to the high point of 4621 on Coffee Flat, then follow the ridge down. He went on a couple pre hikes to check things out too.
Hiked to La Barge Upper Box then took a canyon up to Picacho. The canyon was wicked cool in my opinion. It sure didn't feel like the Superstitions, especially this far west.
The valley is in the middle of a cold snap touted to be the coldest front to hit since 1983. Not sure if it panned out. It was cold. The lowest reading of the day was 28 degrees on a new temp sensor Bruce got for his Garmin. Which was cool but a little pricey at about $5 per mile, read his triplog for details.
After a wuss moment where I got scared on an icy ledge... Dave, Vince and I met up with the balance of the group on Picacho. We lucked out to the clearest views I recall. Nice fluffy clouds added the perfect touch.
Next it was over and up to 4621, the high point on Coffee Flat Mountain. We went up a wrong peak with sweet Mother Lode moments. The real peak isn't as exciting but checked it off.
The views heading back were outstanding. Only followed the ridge for a bit then headed over to #238. Thanks everyone for a great hike!
BTW... Preston and Denny look out! There's a new calm, respectable, non complaining roll model type in your neighborhood. GOYAAH's gonna getcha!
