A hike with my new coworker Michelle. We went down the Hermit, out to Dripping Springs, back to the junction, then down to the shelter (Santa Maria) and back to the trailhead. There was ice in a very few short sections on the shaded parts on the top of the Hermit and Dripping Springs trails. Coming back up on the Hermit, those sections were beginning to melt. I thought it would be warmer out there, but with the cloud cover, quite a bit of shade and cool breeze, it never really felt warm. I guess I have to continue to wait for spring.

As we approached the shelter on Hermit, I noticed a stone structure below that I had not noticed previously. I went down to check it out and it there were old pit toilets with a locked door. We headed back up and I took a short break at the awesome Waldron junction. I pushed from there to the trailhead and made it up in 29.5 minutes. I went back down a little ways to check on Michelle, as it was her first real hike in quite some time. She said she was so sore yesterday :)
