The map shows it ending at about the corral area, but in reality it goes all the way down to Upper Hess Canyon. This was our goal, though we didn't quite drive all the way due to severely eroded road conditions. Grasshopper got down to a very tough spot and managed to turn the jeep around. He came back up a short ways from that little nightmare and parked. Meanwhile, I stopped about .3 mile before that, seeing going further in my truck might mean not getting out! We all walked down the rest of the way to get a look at Hess Canyon. This location is about a mile upstream from where we would be hiking the next day on our way to the Salt River. Wide and sandy at this point with light flow. The cottonwoods were getting their spring green going. Then back to the vehicles for the fun drive out! Hank was also checking out an access point for a future hike in the nearby Blackjack Mountains. On the drive back to camp, Hank and Larry checked out another side road. Randal and I kept going to camp, had a beer, and then we hiked down to the Salt River (which Randal missed out on the day before). Just another great day out in the middle of nowhere!
