Got my favorite campsite at the Horton Creek campground (#9). Fished and explored Tonto creek the first day. There are still lots of stockers left in the smaller pools and other spots that are further upstream or harder to get to. If you see empty power bait jars, pick them up and go somewhere else. I caught two rainbows that had broken off lines with treble hooks and a gut full of power bait. You can always catch a dinner size rainbow in the small pool under the main bridge. I also found the endless blackberry patch 50 yards downstream from the bridge. There are more than could be picked and they were perfectly ripe.
Fished and hiked Horton creek the second day. Caught only brown trout in Horton, only rainbows in Tonto.
