Set out to hike to Charlebois, met two guys just before Bull pass turnoff, they said a group of 15 with horses was ahead of me also going to Charlebois. With that in mind I peeled off down Boulder Canyon. A good choice too; found a great campsite about halfway down to 2nd water with flowing clear water in Boulder as well as the side drainage. There was minimal bush wacking but the trail was always in site, well cairned too, just a pause at every creek crossing made the next set visible with no problem. I remember much more boulder hopping the last time I was here, the trail was really pretty good.
A super quiet night with tons of firewood abundant... Didn't see anyone else until halfway up 2nd water trail on Sunday. A good way to shake out the backpack, since there was a good mixture of several climbs, bush wacking, and boulder hopping, this was a good warm up to upcoming trips at Workman and West Clear creeks. |
