| Finally, HAZfest Summer 2013 arrived. My third weekend up to Flagstaff area in a row; but I wasn't going to miss what I know is ALWAYS a fun event and it lived up to its mantra.
Thank you Todd for getting this all organized and answering all our questions and doing the recon for this most excellent location.
I got there around 5:30 Friday evening, went and visited, then set up my tent in what turned out to be a perfect spot and then visited for the rest of the evening... Pyro Kokopelli didn't disappoint with the fire on either nite and he certainly surpassed the previous events. Thx Todd for supplying the logs that were cut perfectly for the Pyro's massive task. I still chuckle at how far away everyone sat from the fire but I'm NOT complaining.
It was quite exciting to see new faces and visit with others I don't get to see enough. I wish I could have hung out longer on Fri nite but I had a long hike the next day... don't think I'll plan such a long hike next time as I want to stay up and play.
Saturday I drove over to the Sandy Seep TH to meet desertgirl for the 11 1/3 mile Elden Loop hike which we had to hustle to finish so that I could drive back to camp in daylight. I could hardly wait to drink my beer and visit with everyone in camp which had grown in size since Friday.
Sunday morning it was nice to have a leisurely breakfast and continue chit-chatting with everyone... other than the "poo" conversation, silly HAZers . Would have liked to stay longer; especially since I got to be the Queen, but I hate getting caught in traffic on Sunday afternoons heading back to Phx.
Sorry to have missed seeing some of you but our paths just didn't cross; hopefully next time.
Now if you like fire, you will love these two videos as we watch the fire/firework festivities and you can hear various amounts of banter going on. One thing you can tell for sure is we are a lively bunch and really enjoyed ourselves.
I took 24 minutes of video and tried to divide it evenly between the two but by the time I edited out stuff on video 2, it only ended up being 7 1/2 minutes vs the 13 1/2 for video one:

Oops, here is Friday nite's video that I already posted the link in the Forum: http://youtu.be/RpkGOLAvsj4
PS and as some of you know, I'm way behind on photos (still haven't even posted any from my Montana trip this summer) so it might be awhile. |

Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
