I hiked up Pima Canyon Trail #62 to the Pima dam. It was over 100 when I started and got little relief except for the few pockets of shade. In the first minute of the hike I came across a Black Coachwhip snake who paused long enough for me to snap a picture. By the 5th minute I came across an Easter Collared lizard (one of my favorites). These guys are such a vibrant hue of blue its truly a sight to behold. After such an excellent start I knew this would be a great trip.

Along the way I saw plenty of whiptail lizards, nearly stepped on a rattlesnake, and was attacked by wasps. After reaching the dam I canyoneered down the pima creek about a mile before the trail crossed its path. This was an adventuresome boulder hopping and bottom sliding ordeal. With about a mile left in the hike I stumbled upon a desert tortoise.
