| no partners | | wanted to check out brown's ranch trailhead in the mcdowell sonoran preserve - northern region
when johnr1 and i were climbing at little granite mountain last spring, we saw a crew working on some of the new trails
decided on brown's mountain loop and whatever else looked interesting
did the title loop, then a loop around cone mountain
was going to hit cholla mountain loop, but will save that for another day, combined with a little granite mountain loop
should have good tracks for the following trails:
brown's mountain
cone mountain
wrangler
chuckwagon
watershed
vaquero
the coolest place was the amphitheater just off cholla mountain loop
the least cool places were the powerline road and brown's ranch road - wide sandy washes
those can be avoided for the most part
the summit of brown's mountain was cool, too
overall a nice area that would be great for mountain biking and trail running - saw several people doing both
also good for getting some easy long miles and taking visitors out into the desert
several trails my mom would be comfortable on
very pleasant hiking
imagine it's pretty crowded on weekends
another nearby attraction = greasewood flats
had fun exploring and it's definitely worth another hiking trip for the loops i missed
made me think seriously about getting a mountain bike |
