The light was tremendous and all the vegetation looked extra green ( especially the Iornwood) and plump for this time of the year -- even ran into some blooming Chuparosa! On the wildlife and not so wildlife front -- we kicked it off with a massive herd of javelinas scampering way up off to the side up the hill -- They sure can move ! We ran into some good ole Longhorns along the drive in! We saw numerous tarantula holes and a tarantula as well towards the end of the hike. The birds were out in force and we were treated to Red-Tailed Hawks calling.
We has seen a large multi-armed Saguaro in 2011 and had known of of its demise. We looked for it both on way out ( did not find) and on back ( we did find it). We found it as we returned back and took a quick pause to pay our respects! |
