This was Part II of Segment #18 -- We were headed down from Roger Trough to Reavis Canyon TH ~ 8.5 miles, mostly down hill some more steep than others! I personally allowed the though to cross my mind of a challenge of doing it up hill ...but once the amAZing views began to unfold before me as we descent on west flank of Montana Mountain -- It was OK going downhill just for the long views....

Wind back to the start -- we did not want to drive back and forth on the road to Roger's Trough TH so Shawn proposed that we look for "Trail angels" and figure out shuttles ....Well, Shawn, Tracy, Angela put their heads together and along with Kathy & Karl ( who wanted to tackle this whole segment up hill) figured it all out. I will recap what we did so that it can help others out

1.Day prior we staged 1 vehicle (you will need high clearance 4x4) at Reavis Canyon TH.
2. The Downhillers drove out to Roger's Trough TH (about 1hr 10 min drive on a bumpy dirt road) from our meet point @ Hewitt Station Road/Queen Valley intersection. We collected here to pool to TH
3. The Uphillers drove out to Picket Post and parked ( if you want to do the whole segment uphill) or from meet point the Uphillers can drive a vehicle out to Reavis Canyon TH on day of hike if you are just doing the top half.
4. Post hike for Downhillers - pick up vehicle at Reavis Canyon TH and drive out to Picket Post pick up the Uphillers vehicle and converge at the Hewitt Station meet point. Wait for Uphillers to complete hike and pick up the Downhillers vehicle at Rogers Trough TH and come meet up.

Hike notes -- the descent was great. Lot greener than I expected! Even saw some deer in the upper end. Sighs of moisture on the slopes. Its a good descent! Trail is great as well. When you hike with Shawn you just do a trail survey as you hike along especially if its on the AZT -- So Shawn took some notes for future work and we generally stopepd and enjoyed the long views. We hit the base of climb and managed to get a perfectly time meet up with Karl & Kathy just in time for lunch at the wash. Post lunch we went our opposite ways ...Towards the end teh trail goes through a rather impressive corral that we did a good explore of. Wonder what the history of this place is ... pretty impressive stone work. Oh the desert is getting ready to bloom as well...
