Great trail - In summer its a green delight! Ferns as tall as me threatened to swallow me up in many a meadow, lupines were quite prevalent punctuating the green with some lovely blues! The clouds gathered overhead and soon it turned into a sauna!! Yikes -- between the altitude ( I had been in Holland below sea level for a week before !!!), the heat and the impending monsoon. Note to self: 85F at 90% humidity hurts . That apart a great hike with plenty of breaks to enjoy the surroundings. I did officially make to the end of the Kachina trail this time (the last almost full length trip I was chased back by lighting from probably 1/4 of the end).
Glad we wrapped up the hike with just 1 tumble and a few near misses! The roots get you every time on this hike.Post hike food at Oscar's in flagstaff and on the way back we were treated to a spectacular light & rain show over Sedona and Bradshaws! |
