| no partners | | My first hike of any substance for some time. Still trying to make the new shoes work for me. I keep adjusting the laces, that seems to help. My feet get a bit sore, but that has improved as I've been doing these short hikes more frequently, with the new shoes.
The views from this hike are amazing. I could see Toro Peak, high point of Orange County, and San Antonio in the Angeles NF, and San Gorgonio, and San Jacinto, and probably some other peaks of significance whose names I have forgotten. I could see Vail Lake, and just a whole lot of country, with orchards, and lots of chaparral-covered hills.
I notice, having moved back here, how much less smog there is than there was in the 70's when I moved away. These views would have been full of smog back then, most days.
I backpacked Agua Tibia, on this same trail, in the spring of 1978. This was the first time I had been back. I kind of wanted to hike to the place I remember having camped, up where you had a view of Palomar, but I didn't get that far. That's okay. It's only 31 miles from where I'm living, so I can easily go back. Nice campground at the trailhead, also.
I did not notice any water sources, but I really wasn't looking. It's kind of dry right now. |
