| no partners | | This is such a neat area, and is close to where I'm living. There are some peaks to bag, if you want to, but today I just wanted to do a shorter hike. The old Escondido Flume brought water from the San Luis Rey River to Escondido, (and still does, via a different route). The trail goes along a previous alignment of the flume. Then you turn off on the Horsethief Trail, and loop around. I took a trip uphill on another trail but it became confusing, and it was time to go home.
The oak trees, sycamores and other vegetation along the little creek are very pretty in the fall. The chaparral plants are dormant right now, though. |
