| no partners | | It's Sunday so I must be working First Water TH with the Forest Service.
There was a one day old full moon hovering high above the Superstition peaks, drifting in and out of some high clouds that were taking on some beautiful early sunrise tones. I grabbed the Canon M and headed up to the top of one of the hills close by and took a couple of shots that, by now, were too late to capture the full effects of the colors reflecting off the wispy clouds. Then it was back down to the parking lot where I took the Canon SX-40 on a tripod and got a couple of 35x zoom shots of the moon that came out fairly clear.
Mark,One of the regular (non-volunteer) FS employees, showed up early at the TH and told me he was going to hike out to Parker Pass on the Dutchman Trail to locate and recover a reported abandoned back pack that had been hidden under some brush a short distance from the trail. Later that day, the person who had reported the pack showed up and hiked out to make sure Mark was looking in the right place. I had to leave before they returned so I'm curious to see what the brought back.
A group of 9 overnight hikers came dragging in from the Charlebois area and reported the same(?) packpack hidden under some brush but said it was farther than Parker Pass Rodents, by now, had chewed holes in the pack and eaten some of the food inside the pack but camping eqpt. appeared in good condition.
Wow! this gear is approx. 3.5 miles in from the TH so why would someone be stashing camping gear already and why didn't they return to claim it? We were receiving reports on this pack for almost 3 weeks. Nobody has been reported missing so we don't expect to find a body.....Strange stuff still happens in the Superstitions
Crowded day at the TH... parking lot filled up again so had to send hikers back to the Horse Trailer Lot to park. Lots of short distance out & back hikers with kids. Great weather. |

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip. |
