Gonna put this one under John's Dam, but the real destination was Goat Tank a little further down in the desert foothills. While on my Roper Lake walk yesterday, I ran into a friend who told me that "they" were filling up ole' Goat Tank with Jacobson creek and I just had to go check for myself this afternoon! Goat Tank is very special to me, it holds many fond childhood memories of my Grandfather taking me, my brother & cousins on hikes out to "the pond" for a day of fishing. Back in the 80's we thought we were the only people in the valley who knew about this very pretty little cattle pond full of bluegill & bass and always thought of it as our own private fishing hole. About 10 years ago, they stopped diverting water to the pond and it has been dry ever since.

I first made the short hike down to John's Dam, then followed the flume that was running water down to the pond. Made the short hike down to find Goat Tank full of water and spilling out the back end .......... My childhood fishing hole is once again full :y:

Of course there are no fish which made me start thinking of how I could backpack some bluegills in to get it started again :-k

I returned back to the dam, hiked up the old Cluff road then back to the start using the Swift Trail.
As Phil Robertson would say "Happy, Happy, Happy"!
