Jacobson Canyon - wow!
Trailhead 10 minutes from Roper - John's dam just 10 minutes from there.
Why is this place not in the "swimming holes of the southwest" book?! The best spots reminded me of Christopher Creek - nice lounging rocks/levels, small but vigorous waterfalls/chutes/slides, and deep, clear water ... currently 40 degrees. Can't wait to visit when air and water temps are much higher!
As noted, bushwacking along the creek is rough and slow - creek right seems to be best path most of the time.
