A sore back set me back a month. Good to finally be back out. Met up with friends Cylie, Anson and their dog Marley. We drove out to Sycamore Creek to hike a portion of the creek I call the White Box. Its a short loop hike full of boulder scrambling, bushwhacking and route finding. All of this, plus great water features, packed into a short one mile hike.

We enjoyed taking our time on this one. The beautiful day demanded nothing less. Mostly overcast, light breeze, perfect temp and cool refreshing water.

I created a loop hike that is probably worthy of a future description. Its a nice way to see some of the best that Sycamore Creek has to offer. At one moment it is green and lush like West Clear Creek, the next moment you feel like you are canyoneering The Jug.

The approach and exit points, although only about 1/4 mile each from the highway are covered with sharp pointy objects. Forget about the cactus, its the catclaw that will get you. While watching my step, I caught a thorn across my nose. Let the bleeding begin. :stretch: No matter, its worth the scratches once you reach the creek. The creek section of this loop is also short, about a 1/2 mile. Typical route finding options consist of creek left, creek right or swim/wade down the center. Can't really go wrong, a route mistake will only cost you a few steps back and a bit of boulder hopping to the other side of the creek.
