| no partners | | I really wanted to bag this peak but didn't have a 4x4 vehicle this trip, so I came up the long, not terribly scenic Jacks Canyon trail. The views from on top made it all worth it though. I've now hiked the four major Sedona mountains this year; namely Secret, Wilson, Bear, Munds, and even both rims of Oak Creek Canyon. Words can't begin to describe how much I love Sedona hiking.
Once on top, I followed the trail to the far end, checking out a couple viewpoints on the way. The best viewpoint I found was in the SW hoodoo section of the mountain and required some bushwacking and light scrambling to get to. But the views are spectacular and I don't imagine too many people make it back there, but I was loving every minute of it.
Mileage and time are from the saddle up, to the south end, and back. Total trip was approximately 19 miles in 9.5 hours. |
