In preparation for an east side description a west side attempt seemed prudent. As a bonus it would give jj the opportunity to conquer both sides without help. I didn't know what to expect yet didn't lose much sleep in anticipation.

Set sail 10-15 degrees warmer over last week, laced with humidity to boot. Approaching the chockstone two things became crystal clear. It's friggen steep. It looked better than anticipated.

jj went up shakin' things up Elvis style. For a 2nd time he ascended the west without help! Just viewing from below I knew I would not be attempting without a rope. He tossed down a secured line. After 30-45 minutes hemming n hawing at the tail end of the 50 ft rope I figured out one step up. Immediately it got better and worked out. I'm certain of one thing, this cowboy ain't no free climber... the hand line was my best friend!

The rest is history. In cooler weather with some practice this would be quicker.
