| no partners | | I really enjoyed this hike despite the large number of fellow travelers. I have to admit that I was a little intimidated about the high altitude because I do far fewer hikes up high than I did in Arizona, but it wasn't bad at all. Of course I took a lot of camera breaks on the way up so that made it easy.
I met an older couple on the true summit, and I was wearing a U of A shirt, and the dude started giving me crap about the Wildcats. They were actually pretty cool as I ended up taking a picture of them with their camera, and also for a few other people, and they showed me where the summit register is. The area between the summit down to the Devastated Area is interesting to see from above because of how mama nature is reclaiming the volcanic debris.
There was a family of 6 coming down the mountain around the same time I was that kept (loudly) singing songs so I had to rush down the trail which was probably a good thing. |
