| partners | | Another night of car camping near Flagstaff and another section of AZT to be knocked out. Walnut Canyon AZT #31 was next up with Shawn giving us a ride to the start while everyone else started from the Canyon Vista TH. The plan was to link up at the junction of AZT and Canyon Vista trail. Unfortunately we were a little off on mileage and didn't link up until much later. Regardless we continued on enjoying the Canyon Vista area with great views which eventually drops into upper Walnut Canyon. This is probably the nicest section with meadows, some canyon views, and a swing by Fisher Point which overlooks the whole upper part of Walnut Canyon. From Fisher Point the trail follows the rim above Walnut Canyon offering some decent views along the way.
Eventually we caught up with everyone else at the lunch spot. Again a relaxing spot in the pines and cool breezes before heading down the trail to finish the last 7 miles. With the best parts of this AZT behind us we knocked out the last miles on the easiest flats of the day making the vehicles by 330. |
