1st trip
We did the west section of Cabin Loop from Washington Park. Clockwise loop heading north on Blue Ridge AZT#28 to Fred Haught Trail and over to Houston Brothers Trail. There was some water in General Springs Canyon but once we started on Fred Haught it was dry. Also Quien Sabe Spring was also dry although the scenery more than made up for that. Lots of meadows and large ferns in Quien Sabe Draw. Then the Cabin Loop intersects with NF-95 which did have some what in the drainage. Eventually we dropped into Houston Draw and took a long break at Pinchot Spring and Cabin. Lots of water in this section near the Cabin where we filtered several liters.

After lunch it was up the Houston Brothers Trail to Aspen Spring which also had plenty of water in and around the spring area. There is a small cabin/structure near the spring and nice area to camp. Once we left Aspen Spring the canyon upstream from there was probably the best part of the loop. More meadows, tall ferns, and patches of water along the way.

Eventually the trail tops out at 7800 feet where it meets the Rim Road and General Crook Trail. We tried to follow parts of General Crook and could see some signs but mostly stayed on Rim Road back to General Springs. Then it's short drop back down to Washington Park.
