This is a continuation of my Chevelon Creek exploration
I mapped out two objectives for the day:

- See the actual forest lakes
- Go to the end of Slim Jim ridge.

I started at the Larson's Ridge TH and headed north to the OHV TH. I took the OHV trails to the forest lakes. I had low expectations of the lakes and they were lowly meet. The Forest lakes are more like tanks.

Next I headed to Slim Jim ridge. Along the way I crossed Larson's Canyon a couple of times.
There are numerous side trails/loops on Slim Jim ridge. I hiked most of them.

I saw a crossbow hunter about a mile from the end of Slim Jim ridge. He wasn't happy seeing me.
I suspect he figured I would scare away the game. He told that he was bear hunting (with a crossbow)!!

I reached the end of the road and took a foot path to the end of the ridge.
There was a great view of the Telephone Ridge trail and the Chevelon creek. Then I saw a tent/cabin about 10 feet from me. My first thought were of Robert Fisher's hidden shack in the wilderness! :scared: I noticed how well built the cabin/tent was.
There was even a firewood pile and patio stones in front of the structure. I made sure that structure was empty before entering it.It was completely empty inside.

It was drizzling off and on during day, but now it was coming down harder with a cold wind. So took my lunch inside the tent/cabin. There was a functional window inside!

After an extended lunch I headed back on a couple of different roads. The clouds parted and the moon came out for the last hour of the hike. Hiking by moon light rules :y: !

I'll be back to checkout some of the other OHV trails in the area.
