Caroline is a tough little lady - she did the whole hike on her own - all the way to the hiker shelter and back down. No complaining and just talking about the "yellow ceiling" of aspen all around us. George pretty much rode the whole time - except after lunch he refused to get back in his hiking house (the Kelty) and so Brad let him walk on his own - it's about 9000 feet elevation at this point - just the last 0.3 miles and 3 year old George is whining and fussing. Caroline and I left them in the dust - and the picture of George all by himself hiking up the last bit just makes me giggle thinking of his little body and his broken toddler brain. Eventually he got in the Kelty and then we all celebrated at the hiking house together. Tantrums on a hike are tough - tantrums at 9000 feet are brutal!!
But really that was a big hike for desert dwelling kids to handle and they did great!! Only 4 miles but the elevation gain and TH elevation make this a tough one. |
