With Thursday being a travel day for the World Series teams, I figured I would get in a quick road trip and camp between games. The urge to hit the road in search of fall colors is pretty great these days, so I thought it would be nice to head up the Coronado Trail, then down to Blue Crossing with the idea to camp there before continuing my lasso drive Friday over to Glenwood, Mule Creek, then home for game three. Looking back at this quick trip, I would say the fall color show was spotty at best. Probably a little early for where I was. Didn't matter, I had fun anyway! :D

It is a good thing I didn't plan on camping anywhere along US 191 or adjacent areas, because with the start of the deer hunt, just about anyplace you could pull in a trailer and set up camp was occupied. This was the case from Granville all the way to where I turned off on the Red Hill Road.

The small campground at Blue Crossing (3 sites) was full as well, so I drove up to the Upper Blue Campground, which was empty. Wow & Yay! :)

Had the place to myself the entire night. Quiet and peaceful with the sound of the Blue River to keep me company. As an added bonus it was New Moon, so I didn't have to put up with unwanted light. Perfect! :D

It was chilly as expected at over 6000 feet and along a drainage, but nothing outragious. Overnight low was about 35 degrees, but since I put my light bag inside another one, I was snug as a bug in a rug (until I had to get up and pee  )! By then it was almost first light.

That was the best night of sleep I have had in awhile. Very enjoyable place to camp.

(Upper Blue Campground is a choice on this site for a triplog, but I didn't use it because the map location given is so far off as to be laughable.)

There is another travel day for the Series teams tomorrow (Monday), so I plan on heading up to Pinal Peak to camp and do some short hikes in the upper reaches to enjoy the fall colors. Based on photos posted from last week, things should be about prime. :)
