| no partners | | Thought I might try to head up to Wrightson, but would make my decision when I got to Josephine Saddle. By the time I got there, I decided against the big hike and figured I would head back down on the Super Trail to complete the loop. But, then I changed my mind and decided to go to Jack Mountain and back down past Carrie Nation Mine instead. I had been to Jack Mountain once before, probably in 2002 with SAHC. It is just a short side trip off the Agua Caliente Trail (the route obviously doesn't see much traffic as it is really overgrown). I knew with the abundance of water everywhere these days it would be impressive along the creek from the mine back to the junction with Old Baldy Trail. It was!
I took the alternate route down to the mine that passes the old cabin/camp site. As I neared the mine the sound of the water kept getting louder. I had to do some bushwhacking to get some of the pictures along the creek, but it was worth it of course. Also it was a challenge to keep the feet dry with all the stream crossings in the section from the mine to the junction with Vault Mine Trail. Glad I decided to go back this way instead of the usual Super Trail choice!
