| partners | | | Planned to hit the trail earlier to meet Kyle for the second half of his Thanksgiving in the Mazzies trip. A early morning flat tire delayed things and I didn't hit the trail until about noon. Slowly made my way up Barnhardt, cruised towards Chilson, then got slowed down by the grassy section coming up to the Divide. Saw some deer, but not a human being the whole way, and made it to Horse Camp Seep around 5. That last stretch was gorgeous in the waning light. By that time I was starving. Kyle and a pooped Lily had collected firewood, and set things up nicely. I inhaled my Thanksgiving leftovers warmed up in foil by the fire, hung out for a bit, and settled in for the night. The temps were perfect. Slept in, and enjoyed coffee and breakfast by the fire before heading out a little before 10. Got a bit warm on the walk up the overgrown stretch near Chilson, but the rest of the hike was perfect. A nice little 24-hr trip. I needed it. |
