Decided to hit Union Peak today. Haven't been on Cactus Wren yet so I worked that into my plan. Started at Desert Vista trailhead, up Hawk's Nest, Dixie Mountain Loop, down Valle Verde to Cactus Wren clockwise, south on Great Horned Owl and climbed an old pack trail up the south face of Union Peak to the top. Down Union Peak trail to Great Horned Owl and followed the shortest route back on Valle Verde, Desert Tortoise, and Hawk's Nest. Not much going on in the preserve today, saw about 6 hikers and 6 mountain bikers total.
