| no partners | | Given that my 4 year old has surprised me on all the other hikes on which I have taken her, I decided Father's Day was an ideal time to see how she does with her dad on Camelback. She actually made it up no problem but, was so tired by the time we got there, had really no interest in the views or anything else at the summit and we quickly descended again. All in all, she did great though and was able to get to the top almost entirely under her own power (a feat I would not have thought a 4 year old capable of doing.)
Special thanks to Clyde, the gentleman distributing water to wayward hikers, for setting us up with some much need extra agua and gatorade for my little girl. All those people on the mountain telling me that I "should be up for father of the year" would sure have changed there tunes in the hurry if I let my daughter get heat stroke. I don't think we were at that point, but any water is good water when your pack is running dry and the great people like Clyde who hike and help out on Camelback on a regular basis are a big part of what make hiking here so wonderful. |
