| no partners | | I parked at the at Bentley Mine Rd and N 40th Dr. (So it says on the map). I first hiked East, to an area right outside of Cave Creek Regional Park. It linked up with a previous hike. I then hiked 2 miles West to link up with Apache Peak hike that I did earlier this year. That finished the Maricopa CCRP to New River Road hike. I then hiked the Maricopa Trail North West to the Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area. I hiked about 1 mile into the Conservation Area. I turned around when the trial met up with the Elephant Mountain Trail. I took a couple minutes to snack, then headed back to my truck. Looking at satellite views of the area, I took different trails back, whenever I could. I did backtrack 1/4 mile toward Apache Peak to get a little more mileage in today. I had a huge cloud over me 85% of the hike. If it wasn't for that cloud cover I wouldn't have attempted the full version of this hike. Two HAZ mile stones for me today. My first 1000 miles and 200,000 AEG logged.  Edit** ((Im glad I added that 1/4 mile back track to this hike. I ended up at 1000.22 total miles))
I did run into a rattlesnake today. He was perfectly camouflaged right next to the trail. He is even hard to see in the pictures I took. All rattle snakes need to be tattooed with a bright pink line down their back, and have some kind of LED light or disco ball inserted in their tails. Who wants to start the petition?
I believe Az Wondering Bear found cow tag #1 a couple weeks ago. I found #2. I wonder where 3 is? Anyone? |
