Who knew a Drive Home could be such a Blast! Small, Short, but incredibly Sweet Narrows in Cascade Creek just North of Durango...It was a Perfect little Stop to enjoy the Water One More Time before hitting the Heat in Phoenix...With some New Arizona Friends and the Coldest Water of the Trip...
New Appreciation for why some of these Guys wear PFDs in these Class C Canyons...Only a couple of people took their Packs and I was not one of them. I'm used to using my Pack for Flotation, but not today. Everyone had a PFD except me... Although I consider myself a Decent Swimmer, it was a little more Interesting with Heavy Shoes and a Harness full of Gear on...It wasn't bad, just a little more Effort...Might have to Invest in a PFD for some of these Trips...The one I have (that I didn't bring) is more for Boating and such. Too Bulky...These Guys had some that were much more Minimal...
You can Jump, Slide or Downclimb this Whole Thing, but we took Extra Care as it was our First Time thru it and sent someone Down On Rope to Clear things first...Good Thing, as the Last Waterfall has a Rock that would have been Bad. I was given a Heads Up about it from a Guy that did it earlier in the Week...We could still Jump, but had to Direct our Jump to avoid it...
For those of you that Rock Climb too...At the Bottom End of the Narrows, there were people Climbing the Cliffs...
Did I mention this was Short too? 1 Hour Roundtrip....The Approach takes 45 Seconds from the Vehicles and the Exit takes 20 Minutes, maybe... The Exit is a well-used Trail by the Locals who come down there to Swim and Rock Climb...Just Downstream from the Last Waterfall...
Good Times with Good People and a Perfect Ending.... |
