The Clouds were Perfect on this Day and the Wildlife was more than Cooperative...These National Parks certainly have a way of Desensitizing the Elk and Deer and yes, even the Bighorn Sheep... It's pretty Cool actually, because you get to spend time Observing Behavior and the Rams were Full of "Behavior" on this Day... I got a ton of nice Photos, but I'll spare you the most Graphic of the Sheep P**n...
In my Past Visit 2 Years ago, I Hiked from the Lodge to The Grotto, back to Emerald Pools and then back to The Grotto, all on Different Trails, including an Unofficial River Trail. So this Time, I decided to try to find another River Trail from the End (Temple of Sinawava) to the next Stop which is Big Bend. There was a Trail, although on some of it, the River Bank was so Steep that you ended up on the Road for just a bit before going back down...Easy Walking and there were a few things to see that you would miss on the Shuttle...The Wildlife was Cooperative here too...Almost too Cooperative.. Not sure why the Deer are so Thin unless it's all about the Fawns, but they look like they could also have Parasites. There's plenty of Food...Not the Healthiest I've seen that's for sure...
Got to Big Bend and caught the Shuttle back to the Visitor Center. The Shuttle Driver told the Story of the Flash Flooding the Week before. Apparently the Virgin River went from 300 CFS to 20,000 CFS in less than 20 Minutes...They were lucky they didn't lose anyone in the Narrows that Day...It was still Zion's Deadliest Day in History with the loss of the 7 Canyoneers....
Sunset was only an Hour away, so after seeing gobs of People with Cameras on the Bridge over the Virgin River, I decided to check out what the Attraction was...I can see why everyone likes that Composition so much... The Clouds were promising quite the Sunset, so I hung around. They kept their Promise... Back to Camp after Dark with a 20% Chance of Rain that Night.
An Amazing Park that I need to do more Hiking in, that's for sure...I still haven't done the Top 3 and that needs to Change...
Photos: Sorry.... |
