| no partners | | My First "Peak Bag" in awhile.... 
Some Friends wanted to go up and Shoot the Perigee Moonrise...Although I'm just not that Excited about Urbanscapes, I thought, why not, I haven't got anything better to do on a Saturday Night and I just might Learn something...  Besides, even as a Native, I've never been up there... 
The Minute I stepped out of the House, I wondered if we would even see the Moon on this Evening...Lots and Lots of Clouds were Building up and there were getting to be some Massive Thunderheads...Ok, so let's Trade a Full Moonrise for some Possible Storminess...I can do that too...And Off I went...I made all the Right Decisions on this Day.... 
Updrafts, Downdrafts, Rays, Color, Moon and even some Lightning thrown in...Yes, the Moon was Visible for about 2 Minutes and out of the 8 People that I was with, I was the only one that saw it...The Rain was threatening to Overtake us on the Peak and all my Friends Bailed and Beat Cheeks for the Parking Garage across the Street.  I had thought ahead and brought Rain Gear so I wasn't too Fazed at that Point...Besides, the Colors for the Sunset were just starting to really Explode... I go around the Other Side of the Peak for 2 Minutes and then when I came back around, Bam! There was the Moon... It had Risen behind some Clouds and then worked into a Clear Area. It lasted for about 2 Minutes before it disappeared behind more Clouds for Good...
About the Time the Moon disappeared, some Cloud to Cloud Lightning started to get Active right above me and I knew it was Time to go...Went down and met the Others in the Garage and Shot some Lightning Shots from the Rooftop before the Rain came and chased us down a Floor...Quite the Rain and it lasted almost an Hour...We literally had a River running down the Ramp from the Roof...  Got a few more Lightning Shots in after the Rain quit and then it was a Wrap, as the Light Show eased up...
Drove back home via the Mill Street Bridge and by the time I hit College Avenue, you would never know it Rained...Bone Dry...We got no Rain at the House and I'm only a little over 2 Miles North as the Crow Flies....Just Amazing how the Monsoons can be so Localized....Just a Fun Night all Around...  |
