After more than doubling the planned time and distance of the first hike and since it was a straight shot to the summit I decided to knock this one out in a hurry and maybe pick up a couple more peaks yet today.
That being the case, I didn't expect any drama and sure enough, other than a perfect day for some great scenery, there was no drama to be found. For all the times I end up with so much drama, sometimes it is a good thing when there is none.
About the only thing that spoiled the ambiance was the inordinate amount of truck traffic in both directions along SR 177. From the straining of the diesel engines on the uphill to the blatting of the Jake-brakes on the downhill there was no silence to be found. But then the wind was so high at times I had to cover my ears from the roar.
Due to the traffic, I decided the next peak would be away from the highway... and I was off to Wood Canyon for Peak #3.
