| partners | | Wade and I came up with this idea a few months back. On an earlier trip we found an apple tree, while checking out an old cemetery. The apples where not ready to be picked, so we planned to come back when the tree would be in season.
I left my house around 4:45am. I stopped for gas and snacks, then headed up to Crown King. I arrived in CK around 6:45am.(37F) I was about 2.5 hours early. I had a couple of short hiking choices in the area. I choose Porphry Mountain. It was a nice short hike, with a great views. I spent 40 minutes at the top relaxing. I then headed back to CK to meet up with Wade.
I met up with Wade and we headed out of CK around 9:30am. The first stop was the Apple tree. We found two trees with fruit. The second, beat up tree, had better tasting apples. Over the next few hours we stopped at some windmills, corrals, old cemeteries, abandoned structures, Gold Bar Ranch, historic Hassayampa Bridge and some Native American ruins.
We then headed to Congress to eat at Nichols West Restaurant. I arrived home around 7:15pm. Over all a great with perfect weather.
Thanks again Wade and Mary Jo for dinner. |
