| partners | | Decided to do some peaks in the Bradshaw Mountains driving up the eastside on FR 261 to saddle between Union and Moscow. Kind of cheating starting at 7000 feet but we wanted to get 4 peaks in without taking all day
We headed south down Yankee Doodle Trail for Yankee Doodle Peak first which is not much of a peak. Then went over to Moscow Peak and making it slightly more challenging headed up the south side. Nice peak on top and fits the designation of peak much better than Yankee.
Still some off trail heading north towards the next peak Mt Davis before hitting trail again. Took trail past Union most of the way up Davis except for the last 1/2 mile. Once on top there is rocky out crop on one side of the summit with great views. Took a lunch break enjoying best peak of the day.
On the way back to the vehicle we stopped by Mount Union and the tower. All quiet with tower shut down for the season and no other hikers on this day. |
