| no partners | | Quick overnight up Picketpost Mountain. Soaking wet on the hike up, then the rain thankfully ceased once I hit the top. Set up camp on peak 4281, which is the farthest west summit. There is a small clearing and fire ring right next to the edge. I wandered a bit, photographed sunset, then quickly turned in. It was freezing cold and everything too wet for a fire. No tent, but I brought a tarp to cover me in case it rained, which it did at one point during the night, probably for about 30 minutes. I woke up at one point feeling quite refreshed, thinking maybe it was 3-4 am. Checked my watch and it was 12 am . I eventually wandered and took some night shots until I got too cold, then I turned back in and slept until 6:30 am, when I was up for a clear, uneventful sunrise. Overall I was warm and cozy overnight in spite of my lack of tent. Hiked down around 9:30 am. Short, pleasant trip. |
