| no partners | | Out for some much needed exercise and to see how things looked in this most familiar territory. Followed King Canyon Trail up to Sweetwater Saddle, where I took a short break. Returned by way of the old mine road that loops you back into the main wash not too far from the Mam-A-Gah picnic area. Stopped for an extended break under the shaded picnic ramada there, before finishing the hike by going down the wash to the parking lot.
The extended period of above normal temperatures and lack of rainfall has definitely put a damper on the wildflower action. The flowers were all pretty much doing their thing, but looked stressed and were stunted compared to some years. Nevertheless, there was enough to make for an enjoyable day in the desert.  |
