After cleaning and painting a few of the cabins, we grabbed some lunch and took the Pine Canyon Trail up to the rim and back. The rain from the night before made the canyon vibrant with color, especially in the lower section, where the ferns and other foliage were out in force. Enjoyed hiking along the creek in the lower section and then the views opened up as we climbed up to the rim. We thought we might get rained on (or snowed on), but other than a light sprinkle or two, the weather was a non-factor. Actually, the cloud cover was welcome as we ascended the switchbacks. Didn't see another soul on the trail. |
