Started at the Cunningham Campground and made a beeline through the forest and down a very steep hillside directly into the barely trickling CC creek. After that continued downward the even steeper slope by gently sliding and surfing down the very fine and deep scree that covered the hillside.
It was quite hot Monday morning so the moment I hit the cool waters of Grant Creek I joined my dog with her usual pool splashing routine.
Spooked a couple of deer as I headed upstream and of course had to yell at Payton not to follow in chase.
Really nice flow, decent sized pools and plenty of cascades heading upstream Grant. As I neared where GC meets with the Swift Trail I gave a group of fisherman quite the surprise as I popped out of the bushes and threw them off guard. There were plenty of small fish in the creek but they were getting no luck from what they said. Walked back to my vehicle at CC from where Grant spits underneath the drainage below the Swift Trail and continued on to another little hike for the day... |
