| no partners | | As I begin to type this triplog it is with sheer disappointment!! 
It's not because I didn't reach the top, that sucked for me trust me! It's due to to the reason why I didn't make it up there! Bottom line is a was a bad dog father this day and I had to make a stressful stopping point and turn around due to the condition of Mama Payton.
This was her 4th hike of the trip and during my time at my parents she also had an large 1 acre backyard to run around those days as well, so she pretty much exhaausted herself each day and developed a sprained ankle in the process.
I know my dog well and I'm glad I made the smart choice to turn around even though I was within flirting point of Kendrick Peak! It was the first time I had ever saw her trying to take breaks during our descent from the mountain. It wasn't due to it being hot outside or anything because the temps were great and we had plenty of cloud cover and shade, not to mention I literally bring a gallon of water or more on each hike with my
dog just to be safe so she stays well hydrated. She was just downright fatigued and that ankle was bothering her so I decided to pick her up and do the old firemans carry for about a mile but she didn't like that much and her boxer pride got in the way and she graced her chunky butt down Kendrick from there on out. 
It's itching at me that I didn't make it at the top because leaving unfinished business is something that I'm not about but that fact that my dog is safe and rested now is the important part! I'll be back Kendrick, you ain't nothing but a  |
