| partners | | We hiked into Upper Salome Canyon to enjoy some cool pools and explore downstream a bit. The hike in is short but off trail and rugged accessed from a network of forest roads near Young Highway from Juniper Flat. Once down in the canyon we setup camp and checked out some of the close pools.
Next day we hiked downstream and found several large swimmers and waders to negotiate but we were ready and willing to get wet. Further downstream eventually ran into about 40 foot pour off which took more effort to circumvent than I wanted to put forth. Headed back upstream and we took our time hitting all the pools on the way back to camp. We definitely spent more time swimming and drinking beer than hiking but no one was complaining
Next day we hiked out a different side canyon than on the way in. It was exploratory but actually worked out better than the original access with less brush and decent water. We got back to the vehicles by noon and headed out for Mexican food at Guayo's in Miami. |
