50's and raining and would you believe I got the trail to myself. I was pretty wet by the time I got to the top, but I caught a break in the rain. Walked up the meadow and waded through waist deep wet grass to the grotto to check out the trees. Maples and all the other smaller bushes along the trail turned yellows and reds virtually overnight. In fact, in hundreds of times up this trail I don't think I've noticed the variety of other plants besides flowers and the pine trees. May have to go a little farther tomorrow to check out the other stands. The stand at the intersection of Mt E and RTP looked pretty good with the contrast of over cast sky.
