| partners | | Three days after my previous attempt I was fully ready for success... I now had a better route, better (cooler & drier) weather and Tracey was eager to join in.
This time I drove farther into Bulldog Canyon so we begin with an ascent in the most likely area to reach the ridge without too much ado. It took a bit of climbing on loose pebbly slopes, some tight-rope walking along narrow rocks, by-passing a pour-off and grabbing bushes to drag ourselves up but we made it.
Once up top we headed north along the ridge. The last time I had been on the ridge was 3 years ago heading in the opposite direction so it took almost as much route-finding skills as before. A few times we had to backtrack and I freaked out in a couple sketchy areas of exposure but with Tracey's help I got over it and moved on.
Obviously the views from the ridge are better than halfway down the slope but I somehow managed to take half as many photos. |
