One of the great views in the Superstitions is the one from the top of Bluff Spring mountain. Even if you don't go to the peak, the view is great from just below and just above the stone wall.

There are close to a hundred cairns marking this trail. The problem is they are the same color as the surrounding rock. Most of the cairns are small and some consist of just one or two rocks. (A one rock cairn seems like an oxymoron but some of these are helpful.)

It's possible to find and follow the cairns without the GPS track I uploaded but a GPS will make the trip faster. When you lose the trail (and you will) the GPS shows you which direction to look for cairns rather than having to do an outward spiral. There was a lot of dead grass so for most of the trip there wasn't a path to follow--it's mostly hiking from cairn to cairn.

The GPS track I uploaded starts at the Bluff Springs trail near the junction with the Dutchman's trail and ends on top where the cairns end near a distinctive red rock outcropping.

This segment is 1 mile and climbs 800 feet. It took us an hour and 20 minutes--including a break to enjoy the view.
