Great day on Skull Mesa getting Angela to her goal of finally checking this one off the list. Perfect weather all day with cool breeze keeping the heat in check. We went up Oregon Hiker's shortcut which was an old trail section that links to the Cottonwood Trail. It was decent trail and cuts some mileage off the route as it's more direct staying on the ridgeline. Once back on the main route we took the standard way up to Skull Mesa from there. Perfect temps on top with the views and we took an extended break and even managed to get a nap.
After the break we headed down and looped around so we could see Cottonwood Spring. Another break at the spring which had some small pools just enough to filter if needed. Then continued on down the trail eventually passing the shortcut turnoff from earlier in the morning. Great day and glad we got Angela to check this one off the list!
