Took my son-in-law's Dad for a hike out of Spur Cross to the top of Skull Mesa. It was a cool day with rain threatening but never quite reaching us. We took what I call the 247A bypass trail, a short cut that cuts off about a mile from the official route which goes up Cave Creek to the Cottonwood Trail. Great exercise and some nice views.
